If you haven’t heard already, London South Bank are in discussions with Croydon Council to open up a branch of their University in one of the existing buildings in Croydon.
This is GREAT news on almost all accounts if you are an investor in Croydon, or thinking of investing in Croydon!
Apart from giving a huge boost to the local economy, it will give property investors to look at a whole other avenue that has not been available in Croydon before – student specific accommodation, including ‘halls’ style properties.
There has been a decline in HMO properties in the last 6 – 8 months in Croydon (based on data from www.appletonestates.co.uk), and I believe that the news of LSBU and Croydon Partnership will bring the HMO market back to life. Students need accommodation, and cheap accommodation. HMO rooms are perfect!
Hmo Investment in Croydon
While I have always advised that HMOs in Croydon are good investments, and I’m consistently finding them with over 7% yield in Croydon (HERE is a free one for you!), I am now of the opinion that there may be no better investment than a HMO in Croydon (near to where the Uni will be – TBC).
