To all my investor and first time buyer friends, there is a fantastic event on this Saturday 30th September. I will be there too, so feel free to pop in and say hi!
Official Press Release:
HELP IS ON HAND FOR FIRST TIME BUYERS SOUTH OF THE RIVER
Homes for first time buyers in Croydon are on average a quarter of a million pounds* cheaper than the capital’s average, so as one of the most affordable areas to live in London, property in Croydon is highly in demand. For aspiring first time buyers trying to secure a property south of the Thames, help is on hand, with the First Time Buyer Home Show returning for the second year and set to take place on Saturday 30th September 2017.
This year the show will be sponsored by Thames Valley Housing, a forward-thinking housing association which supports homeownership in the South East and will be promoting its brand new So Resi campaign at the event. The event will also be attended by Cllr Alison Butler and MP for Croydon Central, Sarah Jones.
Following the success of its first show in Croydon last year, the event is to be held at the Croydon Conference Centre from 10am until 4pm, and will be free to attend for visitors. First time buyers will be able to find out everything they need to know about getting onto the property ladder, from free mortgage and legal advice to a wide range of properties and new homes that are currently on the market in both Croydon and throughout South London.
This one-stop shop will also explain the use and benefits of homebuying schemes including Shared Ownership and the government-backed Help to Buy scheme – both which have become extremely popular ways to get onto the property ladder with lower upfront costs, and so are highly useful for new buyers.
Lynda Clark, editor of First Time Buyer Magazine comments: “Croydon and nearby areas has undergone huge regeneration and development in recent years, attracting many first time buyers and making it an ideal place to get on the ladder. However, with the vast sums required for deposits and increasing house prices, it is not surprising that many first time buyers think that they won’t ever stand a chance of owning their own four walls. Our show will help inexperienced buyers in this thriving area of Greater London to get the advice that they need to get onto the property ladder.”
Cllr Alison Butler, Deputy Leader for Croydon Council and Cabinet Member for Homes, Regeneration and Planning comments: ‘The Council recognises the need for homes of all tenures for the people of Croydon and is therefore determined, through initiatives like Brick by Brick and the new local plan, to enable the delivery of thousands of new homes in Croydon to offer genuine choice to local first time buyers across all budget ranges. We welcome the opportunity for those who want to buy their first home or look at a shared ownership scheme, to come along to the show, see what’s available and find out what assistance they can get.’
In addition to Headline sponsors Thames Valley Housing, exhibitors on the day include London Square, Countrywide, Guinness Homes, Step Ladder, Which? Mortgage Advisors, Inspired Homes, Post Office Money, Help to Buy London, Countrywide, Direction Law, Metropolitan, Prince Evans Solicitors LLP and Experian. A series of useful seminars will also be held by experts throughout the event, offering further practical advice about buying a home.
Kush Rawal, Commercial Director for Thames Valley Housing says: “We are delighted to be supporting the First Time Buyer Home Show this year. Homeownership is the dream of so many young people and we are keen to promote the merits of getting onto the property ladder and the different ways that this lifetime goal can be achieved sooner rather than later.”
Lynda adds: “We have such a wide range of exhibitors and speakers lined up who are ready to provide free and practical home buying advice to anyone who attends the event. By coming to the show, potential buyers will hopefully save days of visiting properties and hours of trawling through the internet. It is a great way to find out lots of useful information all under one roof with expert advice to hand.”
